Do You Have Control Of Your Emotions?

Howling 2You Deserve to Live an Extraordinary Life!

Do your feelings get hurt easily?
Do you find it difficult to let a disappointment or frustration go?
Do you “heat up” inside when things do not go your way?
Do you frequently get angry and frustrated with others?
Do you get frustrated with yourself and often blame yourself?
Do little things trigger undue frustration and agitation in your life?

If you answered yes to several of these questions, you may be struggling with weak Emotional Control, the second skill of Emotional Intelligence.

Emotional control has to do with your ability to manage anger, hurt and fear; it allows you to self-regulate, tone down your frustrations, cool off after a conflict, and keep things in perspective. People with low emotional control tend to take things too personally, obsess over insignificant upsets, overheat themselves and stay stuck in personal grievances and misery. They usually end up hurting themselves quite a bit while the target of their distress is usually not even aware of what is going on!

Over the next few posts, I want to share with you some insights and skills you can use to become better at your emotional control and to become a Navigator of your emotions rather than a Victim or a Survivor.

I think this old Indian story might be a good way to begin:
